Kenwood Vineyards will select eight finalists from the entries submitted and from those eight, choose a Grand Prize Winner on or before July 22, 2012. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a four-day, three-night trip for two to Sonoma County, including round-trip coach airfare to San Francisco, lodging, all meals, a VIP tour of Kenwood Vineyards, a generous sampling of Sonoma County activities and ground transportation during the stay. The remaining seven finalists will receive luxury picnic backpacks, perfect for their next Sonoma County adventure.

On our first date, my husband and I shared a Kenwood Cabernet. Five years later, in San Francisco on vacation, we drove to Sonoma and hoped to visit the Kenwood Winery. Mother Nature had different plans…it rained all day. Our sunrise balloon ride was canceled. The weather turned cold and dreary. By lunch, our waiter said we should head back to San Francisco because the main roads to San Francisco may flood and possibly close. With heavy hearts, we left the wine valley and drove back to the city. That evening, my husband proposed to me. He had planned to propose in the hot air balloon but that was a bust. Plan B had been to propose at Kenwood Winery. Of course, I said "yes" and we were married a year later. Still, even today, we both think of our disappointing trip to Sonoma as one blip on the radar screen of our "Happily Ever After." 10 years and one child later, I know it would mean the world to us to be given the chance to finally see Kenwood Vineyards in person.

For me, Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon means good times and great memories. The first time I had it, I was visiting a dear friend. Judy and I flew all over the world together back in the mid-90’s as flight attendants for a charter airline. We lost touch, then reconnected a few years ago, and I dashed to L.A. to see her. The first night at her house, she served Kenwood Cabernet. With its rich currant flavor and notes of vanilla, it was smooth and simply delicious. We enjoyed glass after glass as we laughed and reminisced about all our wonderful adventures. I will never forget that night: great company, great wine. Since then, Kenwood Cabernet has been my “go to” wine—I have served it on many occasions in my own home. Whether I'm entertaining guests for the holidays, or just having a quiet night with my husband, this wine is always perfect.
