The Wine
The grapes selected for the 1990 Artist Series came from a number of select Sonoma Valley vineyards, including the mountainous Lindholm Vineyard. After harvest at optimum maturity, each vineyard lot was kept separate throughout fermentation and aging. The fermentation took place in stainless steel, and the vineyard lots were aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of two years.
The blend consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon; however, small amount of Cabernet Franc and Merlot further soften this elegant, full-bodied wine. The excellent 1990 vintage produced plenty of rich, ripe fruit with sufficient tannins to ensure a wine that will age well after the year 2000.
