1982 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon

The Art
Kenwood Vineyards’ eighth Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon features "Greek Village," by James Harrell, an artist voted “Most Artistic” by the Society of Wine Educators.

James Harrill was born in North Carolina and studied at New York University and the Parsons School of Design. During the 1960’s he lived in Greece and Crete where he exhibited in galleries in Athens, Beirut and Zurich. In 1970, he moved to his remote mountainside adobe home near Santa Fe, New Mexico where continues to paint. His widely collected work is distinguished by “a fascination with the elemental forms of squares, circles and triangles.” These carefully crafted, cool analytic paintings often depict sun-drenched Mediterranean homes with stepped streets frozen in light and shadow. Brightly colored doors and windows evoke warm and serene feelings to the viewer. A selection of his work is touring nationally under the auspices of the Smithsonian Institute.
