The Art
Kenwood Vineyards’ seventh Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon release features "Golden Gate Bridge," by Josef Eidenberger.
Josef Eidenberger was born in Austria in 1899 and studied at the famed Vienna Academy of Art. His love for color led him to the complicated process of multiplate color etching. In 1973, he traveled to California and created his California series, of which the Golden Gate Bridge is a part. His eye for detail and meticulous execution have won him awards the world over.
The Wine
The 1981 Artist Series Cabernet is an excellent example of the variety. It is composed of a blend from four separate vineyards in the Sonoma Valley. Each lot was aged in French oak for one year, then blended and bottled in July, 1983.
The wine exhibits a deep color and rich, full Cabernet flavors. Its acid, alcohol and tannin balance ensures that this wine will age nicely for several years.
Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Barrel Aging: Limousin Oak
Alcohol: 13.0%
